Anemone multifida

General: Erect growth habit, usually with several flowering stems, each bearing a single flower. Stems branching at the involucral leaves. Stems densely pubescent with spreading hairs.

Flowers: Flowering stems each bearing a single flower, we measured flowers at 2 cm in diameter. Flower colour varies from white through reddish-pink.

Leaves: Stem leaves in one or sometimes two involucral whorls, the leaves are narrowly divided into three narrow lobes. Basal leaves are of similar shape to the stem leaves, the stem leaf highlighted in the photo above was measured at 9.5 cm wide, lobes to 5 cm long and 4 mm wide. Leaves pubescent.

Height: Height listed in Budd's Flora to 60 cm, we measured plants to 42 cm tall.

Habitat: Found on prairie hillsides and moist meadows.

Abundance: Common.

Origin: Native.

When and where photographed: Took the above photos June 24th, roadside, moist woods, boreal forest 450 km north east of our home in Regina, SK.
