General: Mat-forming plant spreading by stolons to form large colonies.
Flowers: Flower heads nodding when young. Flower head measured to 1 cm tall, involucre measured at 5 mm high.
Leaves: Basal leaves spatulate, measured at 1 cm long (including petiole). Stem leaves alternate, a lower stem leaf was measured at 15 mm long. We observed 8 to 12 stem leaves, stem leaves without petioles. Basal leaves silver in colour above and below.
Height: Height listed in Budd's Flora from 15 to 25 cm, we measured plants to 9 cm tall.
Habitat: Habitat is dry prairie and saline meadows.
Abundance: Very common.
Origin: Native.
When and where photographed: Above photos taken June 3rd and June 8th, prairie, about 120 km west of our home in Regina, SK.
