Linnaea borealis (Twinflower) - photos and description






General: Plants with creeping stems, forming mats. Leaves evergreen. Plant stems reddish coloured. Stems hairy.

Flowers: Flowers pink, funnelform, pendant, growing in twos from long peduncles.

Leaves:  Leaves opposite, oval to orbicular, we measured a leaf at 17 mm long including petiole. Larger leaves with a few teeth.

Height: Stem length listed in Budd's Flora to 75 cm, we measured flowering stems to 10 cm tall.

Habitat: Woodlands.

Abundance: Common.

Origin: Native.

When and where photographed: Took the above photos June 26th in forest south of La Ronge, about 600 km north of our home in Regina, SK
