Orobanche fasciculata (Clustered Broom-rape) - photos and description

Upper leaves acute to acuminate
General: Small parasitic plant with pink stems, plants typically parasitic on the roots of Atremisia species. Several branches from the caudex, multiple pedicles per branch, a single flower on each pedicel. Plant is glandular pubescent.
Flowers: Flowers solitary, pinkish-white, there are usually several pedicels from the central stem. Flowers measured at 2 cm long and 1 cm diameter.
Leaves: Leaves are described as scale-like, with acute to acuminate tips.
Height: Height listed in Budd's Flora from 3 to 10 cm, we measured plants to 11.5 cm tall.
Habitat: Habitat is prairie where Artemisia species are found.
Abundance: Common.
Origin: Native.
When and where photographed: The above photos were taken June 16th, at the Buffalo Grass Eco Reserve, 200 km southeast of our home in Regina, SK.
