Sedum lanceolatum (Lance-Leaved Stonecrop) - photos and description
General: Low plant with succulent foliage. Plants glabrous.
Flowers: Inflorescence is a dense cyme. Flowers bright yellow, measured to 18 mm diameter.
Leaves: Stem leaves are alternate, clasp the stem, linear, we measured a stem leaf to be 15 mm long and 3 mm wide. Basal leaves are blue green, linear with acute tips, we measured a basal leaf at 15 mm long and 2 mm wide.
Height: Height of scapes is listed in Budd's Flora to 15 cm, we measured them to 18 mm in height.
Habitat: Rocky slopes in the Cypress Upland.
Abundance: Rare provincially, ranked as an S3 (as of 2021) by the Saskatchewan Conservation Data Centre. Fairly common in the Cypress Upland in southwest Saskatchewan.
Origin: Native.
When and where photographed: Took the photos on June 21st and June 30th in the Cypress Hills in Saskatchewan, 450 km southwest of our home in Regina.
