Vaccinium myrtilloides (Blueberry) - photos and description

General: Low much branched shrub found in large colonies. New stems pubescent. Known of course for its dark blue, edible berries.
Flowers: Flowers are bell-shaped and greenish-white in colour, in clusters at stem tips. We measured a flower at 7 mm long by 5 mm wide.
Leaves: Leaves elliptical, alternate, entire, having very short petioles; leaves highlighted in photos above were 3 cm long by 1 cm wide.
Height: Height listed in Budd's Flora to 40 cm, we measured plants to 30 cm tall.
Habitat: Mixed and coniferous woods in the boreal forest.
Abundance: Common.
Origin: Native.
When and where photographed: Photos taken June 11th, June 12th, and June 15th, Hudson Bay district in east central Saskatchewan, about 400 km north east of our home in Regina, SK.
